Retreat Accommodations and Features Detail:

This popular 2 ½ days workshop retreat is filled with a special charm found only at French Lick Springs Resort & Spa. From the moment you arrive, your stay will become a lasting memory of comfort and elegance.

This quilt workshop is definitely a one-of-a-kind experience. Two nights and three days of southern Indiana old-fashioned fun is guaranteed, and all skill levels are invited.

Following Phil Beaver’s demonstrations, all participants will successfully paint white cotton fabrics with beautiful results. The hand painted fabrics then become the materials used to create table runners, place mats, tote bags, large shoulder bags, wall hangings, pillow covers, and other projects of similar size.

Workshop retreat fee includes 2 nights and 3 days at French Lick Springs Resort & Spa, classroom work space, and instruction in fabric painting, design elements for individual projects, rough edge machine appliqué and free motion quilting. Fabric paints and paper patterns are also included.  Other patterns are available for duck and goose decoys, fish, teddy bears, wild turkeys, great blue herons, geese, swans, violins, high-button shoes, rabbits, chickens, maple leaves, pumpkins, and toy elephants.

All quilters are treated to a sit-down evening dinner at Phil Beaver’s residence where several of his quilts are on display, and plenty of camaraderie is available. Built in 1909, the home is within walking distance of the hotel.

The hotel’s Sunday brunch is another highlight of this retreat. Arrive hungry for this sit-down meal and be prepared to eat barrels of food.

Non-quilting spouses and others may also enjoy the hotel’s two superior golf courses, horse riding, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, bowling, complete spa, tennis and archery courts, train rides in antique trains, restaurants, lounges, etc.

The French Lick Retreat will end on Sunday afternoon with a guided tour of the West Baden Springs Hotel.
